English Department Champions Global Animal Awareness
Organized under the powerful theme, "Save Animals, Save the Planet," the event drew widespread participation, creating a vibrant day focused on critical global and literary awareness. The celebration was specifically designed to bridge two crucial areas: the precarious state of many animal species due to habitat loss and the threat this poses to global ecosystems, and the significant role of animals within literature, exploring their symbolic, metaphorical, and thematic presentations across world works.
The centerpiece of the day was a compelling discussion led by Mr. Sayeed Hussain Tamal, a renowned Animal Activist and Owner of Neer Limited. Mr. Tamal passionately emphasized the intrinsic link between planetary health and animal conservation, urging students to actively champion awareness efforts to restore balance to the ecosystem. This vital sentiment was strongly echoed by the university's leadership. The Honourable Vice-Chancellor of CUB reinforced the vital role of conservation, and other key speakers, including the Registrar and the Heads of the Departments of Public Health and Journalism, all spoke in strong support of the event’s core message.
Students from all batches demonstrated their deep understanding and commitment through a series of high-engagement activities. The Poster Presentations were a major focal point, with students brilliantly showcasing how world literature has often used animals to personify human qualities. They also offered innovative perspectives on contemporary conservation challenges.
A major highlight celebrating the human-animal bond was the popular Pet Show. Students proudly brought their own pets, directly reinforcing the core message of compassion, care, and responsible guardianship.
Following the event, Mr. Shahabaz Khan, coordinator of the English Department, and Ms. Rezina Sultana, Head of the Department of English, expressed their immense gratitude for the overwhelming response. "The success of this event, driven by the sheer passion and strong commitment of our students, was truly inspiring," Ms. Rezina stated. "The high energy displayed confirms that our students are prepared to be active, conscientious global citizens." The English Department has committed to making World Animal Day an annual cornerstone event, aiming to foster continuous awareness and enthusiastic participation among the entire CUB student body and faculty.
