Echoes of Rebel and Red Oleanders: CUB English department Honours Bangla Literary Icons
A mesmerising cultural program was held at CUB (Canadian University of Bangladesh) to celebrate the birth anniversaries of two iconic figures of Bangla Literature Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam. The CUB English Department hosted the program. The main attractions of the cultural program were a recitation of Kazi Nazrul Islam's renowned poem "Bidrohi" (The Rebel) in English translation and a drama performance of Rabindranath Tagore's "Raktakarabi" (Red Oleanders) by the students. Additionally, "Lichu Chor" (The Thief of Lychees), along with songs and dance performances, added to the program's entertainment.

In the first session, the Vice-Chancellor of CUB discussed the lives and works of the two poets. The Registrar and the Head of Public Health also engaged in a very interactive academic discussion about both literary figures. The program commenced with a welcome note from the Head and Chair of the English Department, Ms. Rezina Sultana.

The objective of the program extended beyond merely organizing a cultural event; it aimed to deepen the students' understanding of the philosophies of these two icons and inspire them to incorporate these ideals into their lives.
